Journeys and Geography

About a week ago (or so) some minor and subtle adjustments were made on two journey paths.  Those with the most current Story Card set would now have a "Dungeon of Sevorik" that takes players through the Mucky Swamp and into the dungeon - rather than the Mountain Pass.  To reach the brigand's cave where poor old Thumbleton is being held prisoner, the party will now travel through the Forest Path on their way to the mountains.

Current files were placed into the pdf packs some days ago and direct links are provided here for easier access.

Background Anecdote:  It has always been true that the great Forest of Rhinn contains abundant trails, secret footpaths through the undergrowth and several merchant roads leading up into the mountains.  When we designed the original set of Story Cards (way back when) we'd actually been working with a slightly different set of maps.  Back in those days we had three 'frozen tundra' maps and the Old Ruins didn't come into being until just before the 1.0 public release in 2010.  When that map was created it pushed out one of the tundra maps and that instigated some minor changes to the journey paths.

Fast-forward to recent days and somehow we became aware that the result of those changes were many treks up into the Mountain Pass, either passing through en route to the tundra, or to ascend higher up toward the Highlands.  That's all well and fine of course, but when cycling through the base set it is nice to have a bit more variety as it felt that some of our parties were spending just a little too much time on that stretch of terrain.

With this adjustment, for anyone else who may have noticed a similar tendency, traveling heroes will now make their way up into the mountains by other means.  Besides which, that wretched old Sevorik would more likely have built his dungeon deep in the swamps wouldn't it seem?
