Development began in 2007 with the initial public release (version 1.0) debuting in May of 2010. While it has been exciting seeing the character portraits collection grow, most of the tweaks and adjustments have centered on tightening up the core gameplay experience.
That being said, we'd like to emphasize that in spite of its light-hearted (almost simplistic) veneer, Heroes of Feonora has endeavored from the very beginning to offer greater depth the further along you go. This is a characteristic that will not reveal itself within just one or two Stories (play-throughs) and possibly not even until you've had the opportunity to experience the game with two or three different character classes. Having the game as a print-and-play (pdf) pack has afforded us the opportunity to continue refining the experience in ways that otherwise wouldn't be possible in a fully "published" scenario. And so far, we hope you'll agree, it has proven a worthwhile approach to developing a game of this scope.
The natural drawback to releasing updates at interval is of course the need on the part of players to keep their set fully up-to-date. We know this involves more work, reproducing cards and so forth, but hope you'll agree that in the end it's worth it. For each time a new PDF pack is released the experience and group adventure improves along with it, moving closer to the game's full potential.
So, if you've been holding off on downloading the PDF Pack for a time when the game is finally, fully, totally finished, consider waiting no more. The game is ready to be assembled and enjoyed now by players of all ages.
Yours Truly,
J.G. (with Spooner still stuck to the monitor)
