Ruleset version 1.0.8

Warm greetings to all our friends out there.  Judging from the amount of activity it would seem that 2014 is shaping up to be a seminal year in the development timeline for the game.  Before we delve into the details of this latest release I'd like to say that the version featured in today's post is, in our view, the most significant update to the game since the original public release back in 2010.  And while that may hint at a grandiose number of changes about to be revealed, it's rather more about the coming together of certain elements that have always seemed (to us) just out of reach.  To clarify what that means would be difficult without going into great detail but when there's this or that little element that works, it works fine and integrates well, but you've always felt that there was something more to it hiding just beneath the surface and it's just a matter of teasing out that last bit of potential.  Well, it's something like that.  So let's get to it.
The changes for Ruleset 1.0.8
Heroes of Feonora, RPG Board Game

Game Manual,
The Diplomacy end game has been given a reboot, making it a more dynamic (and quite likely more intense) experience than it has been.  One reason is that it's been reworked to enable full group participation during each round. In addition, there are two more factors that come into play, one of which might have players re-thinking the strategic importance of good Banking.  See Manual for further details.

The Defeat Penalty (the one that affects all party members) has been changed from the loss of each player's highest Hero Bonus to the loss of one Rank.  What does it mean for existing characters?  That's a great question.  Since the number of Hero Bonuses now directly corresponds to number of earned Hero Awards existing Character Sheets can have the boxes filled in up to the number of Hero Awards stated on the back.  The manual gives instructions to use a pen or marker, but in truth, a solid pencil mark works just as well.

Items,
The entire collection of Trinkets (I019 to I035) has been re-assessed by the local Artifacts Roadshow, resulting in incremental increases to item value.

Pantaloons (I031) have been exposed by investigating journalist extraordinaire Spooner the Frog as "Last Year's Pantaloons" which better explains their value, and the looks your character has been getting from the in-crowd up in the City.

Missing Machinery Cog (I035) has been replaced by a curious little thing called "Banking Token" (I036) - a single use item.

Adventure cards,
That poor little Topiary (A060) you know, the one everyone walks past but no one bothers to see what's buried just beneath it, has been replaced with "Assistant Bank Manager."  What could possibly be going on with that we wonder...

The earned interest table for Bank Day (A072) has received a slight modification

Dungeon cards,
Our trusty, if a bit misunderstood friend the Garbage Heap (D038) now gives up
3 rather than 2 Items

Reticulating Anti-Polynomials (D046) have been replaced by something truly dreadful but maybe not so much called Hokey Automaton

Replacing "Head of Venga" (D068) who, we're glad to report, finally found what he was looking for and no we can't tell you what it was but believe you us it did not entail lurking forever through the local Foreboding Dungeon... is a new (by which we mean broken down and shifty looking) ATM-like device with a moniker that reads, "Banking Teleportal Machine" (D073).  What in the name of Hrothgar's lost cousin could this possibly mean to the entire dungeon and cave dwelling underground economies!?  We don't know either but it might be worth investigating...

The earned interest tables for Bank Day cards (D075) and (D076) have been re-worked with a more consumer friendly disposition...
...so you know those blokes on Wall Street had nothing to do with it
   =P

That is all a bit to take in so we'll leave it at that for the time being, and hopefully
be able to take a breather for a bit and get back to actually playing the game ourselves.  Thanks as always for the encouraging words, your feedback has been important to us and, especially for the effort we know you all have to put in keeping your game sets up-to-date.  We hope it's been worth it.
